Carolina Ferraz suffered a defeat against Globo in proceedings against STF • DOL

The Federal Supreme Court has rejected a request to recognize the employment relationship between actress Carolina Ferraz and TV Globo, Megahas reported. The artist worked for the broadcaster as a legal entity.

In 2017, after 27 years, Ferraz's contract with Globo was not renewed and she filed a labor lawsuit against her former employer. In the lawsuit, the actress claims that her employment contract was never recognized by the CLT, the system for the unification of labor laws. For this reason, Carolina Ferraz claims that she was deprived of benefits such as paid leave and the thirteenth salary.

Before the case reached the STF, the lower courts ruled in favor of the actress, recognizing the existence of elements that created a working relationship between Ferraz and the broadcaster.

The rapporteur, Minister Cassio Nunes Marques, decided to cancel the previous decisions, invoking ADPF Law 324, which, in the midst of the labor reform, led to a decision by the STF, in 2018, to outsource all company activities, including the so-called core activities.

“Outsourcing does not, in itself, lead to precarious work, a violation of the worker’s dignity or a lack of respect for social security rights. This is the essence of what was decided in ADPF 324,” Nunes Marques stated in the decision in favour of Globo.

Ferraz made his debut on Globo in 1992, initially as a host of the program Fantástico, and later as a host of the program Você Decide. After that, he moved to television series, working in productions such as “Por Amor”, “Pecado Capital”, “Kubanacan” and “Avenida Brasil”.

When contacted, TV Globo said in a statement that it does not comment on matters under trial. The report was unable to reach actress Carolina Ferraz at the time of publication.
