The Procon of Santa Catarina decided on Wednesday, 18th, that Coca-Cola Sale of Del Valle Fresh is suspended. This afternoon, Coca-Cola, the maker of the drink, stood on the can.
In a statement, the company argues that the illustration on the label of the brand’s drink reflects the raw material contained in the drink, and provides on the label all information regarding its composition.
About the complaint
The Procon of Santa Catarina received a complaint from the Brazilian Institute of Consumer Protection (Idec), which alleged that Coca-Cola was promoting the drink as fruit juice, and suspended marketing of the product in the state.
After analyzing the information on Del Valle’s website and checking labels and advertisements in supermarkets, the examination confirmed that the drink did not contain the minimum amount of fruit that could be considered juice, nectar, or even a soft drink.
