Among the corporate sectors that will embrace the new journey are day care, nursing homes, a stem cell bank, a research and development center, and companies in the manufacturing, retail and not-for-profit sectors.
These companies, according to CNBC, aim to investigate whether reduced working hours will help reduce employee stress and burnout, and whether there is an improvement in employee retention.

Among the member countries of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Portugal is the country with the third longest average working week, second only to the United Kingdom and Ireland. About 72% of the Portuguese workforce works more than 40 hours per week, according to University College London and the University of Reading.
The largest global four-day-a-week trial to date involved nearly 3,000 workers across the UK last year. Participants reported improvements in health, finances, and relationships.
