Breathing in the air from the Steam Deck fan seems to be a “hobby” for many owners of these laptops (I don’t know if you’re part of that group), but it’s something Valve doesn’t recommend.
In a post shared on Redditsomeone on Steam asked if it was safe to breathe air from a Steam Deck Fan, noting that even though it was just a meme, they liked the smell the computer produced.
Valve responded to this user and, as expected, did not advise users to do this at all:
“As with all electronic devices, breathing air from the device is generally not recommended. Although there are no safety concerns for general use, direct inhalation of vapors should be avoided.
“We understand this may just be a meme, but we ask that you avoid this behavior for your health,” added Sandler, of Valve Support. The only question is whether it will convince lovers of the unusual smell of hot electronics …
In fact, considering that I’ve never had the chance to play on a Steam Deck, I want you to clarify: Is the smell that the Steam Deck produces that great?
