Pixel Experience is one of the most popular Android tweaks. As its name suggests, customization stands out in bringing the mobile experience from Google's “Pixel” line to mobile phones from other brands. Unfortunately, this Wednesday (10), the founder of the project It announced that it will end development of the ROM.
In a post on the official Pixel Experience blog, the project's founder announced that his website will remain online, so users will still be able to download older versions. However, the software should not receive future updates for next generations of Google's system, such as Android 15, which is scheduled to be announced soon.
“It is with a feeling of gratitude that I share important information with you today,” begins the message of José Henrique, founder of the project. “After much thought, I have made the decision to complete development of the Pixel Experience.”
Henrique did not explain the reason for his decision to close the project.
Pixel Experience started in 2017, but gained notoriety in mid-2018. The latest available version of the source code is Pixel Experience 14, based on Android 14. With the project discontinued, users will need to look for alternatives like NobleROM, and Paranoid Android. And LineageOS, among others.
The discontinuation of the Pixel Experience comes amid declining demand for solutions that allow you to replace your Android ROM. However, many programs have managed to carve out a space in this area. LineageOS, for example, is on 1.5 million Android devices.
