After Faustão’s successful heart transplant, Luciana Cardoso wrote a letter of thanks to the friends, medical staff and family of the organ donor. The artist’s wife also explained the start of the broadcaster’s entry into the list of those in need of transplantation, which contradicts possible rumors about the speed of Fausto’s treatment.

“From the first day of our emergency hospital admission, we already knew about the need for a transplant. After antibody panel tests and other medical details, Fausto was put on the list on August 8, 2023. We remained silent, as is the family trait until he became public hospital treatment.

Luciana explained the decision to make the information public about the need for a transplant and how important the public’s affection in the past few days has been for Fausto and the whole family.

“In the beginning, we thought that preserving the clinical picture and the need for a transplant would be the best option. Once again, things took a different turn and the transplant was announced on the radio. With all the transparency that we are distinguished by,” we confirm the news. From that moment on, we have received many messages of love and affection from friends, family and the Brazilian population, who consider compassion one of their values, as well as many messages of encouragement from transplanted people.”

The open letter also says that other people have benefited from other organs from the same donor as Faustau.

“Finally, I thank this blessed family who said ‘yes’ in a moment of pain and suffering and allowed Fausto not only to spend more time with his children, but also to the many other recipients who are celebrating this overcoming today. I am glad to know that here, in the same hospital, it happened. Someone, through the Unified Health System, gets another organ and a second chance at life from the same recipient.”
