Popular broadcaster Fausto Silva, known nationally as Faustão, recently revealed the possibility of undergoing a new kidney transplant. This news comes shortly after his successful heart transplant in August 2023. During an interview with SBT Brasil, Faustão spoke candidly about his current health condition and the challenges he has faced in recent months.
In a conversation with journalist César Filho, Faustão said that he feels very healthy. “My health is very good. Today I did two hours of gymnastics, and after two transplants, I needed to recover the physical part,” said the broadcaster. Furthermore, he explained his need for dialysis sessions, which he performs weekly, but highlighted that there is a possibility of reducing this frequency in the near future.
Kidney transplantation: Faustau's new possibility
Faustão referred to the possibility of a new kidney transplant, referring to the innovative treatment offered by a doctor from Curitiba who works in Miami. “He has another system, with living donors,” he explained. The doctor’s goal is to implement this method in the Unified Health System (SUS), which could revolutionize access to organ transplants in Brazil.
How is Faustau's health today?
When asked about his current health condition, Faustau confirmed that he feels very good. “My health is very good. Today I did gymnastics for two hours, and after two transplants, I needed to recover the physical part. The broadcaster also spoke about dialysis, a procedure necessary due to his health condition. “This week there is a possibility of reducing it to once a week until it stops,” he commented.
Luciana Cardoso and the Journey Alongside Faustão
Fausto Silva's wife, Luciana Cardoso, expressed her support and gratitude on social media. She shared the challenges she faced during the turbulent months due to her husband's health, but also highlighted her gratitude for starting a new cycle of life. “Another year and what a year! Nothing has been easy lately,” Luciana wrote on Instagram.
- Support from Luciana: Luciana lovingly shared the challenges and gratitude in an Instagram post.
- Professional support: Faustau continued to receive support from health professionals.
- Prognosis: There is hope for a reduction in the frequency of dialysis.
Impact on SUS
The caller expressed his enthusiasm about the possibility of implementing the treatment also in SUS. “It’s a revolution, it will give more possibilities,” he said. He believes that if the technology becomes available in the public health system, it could provide more options and increase access for patients in need of organ transplants.
Finally, after his final surgery on April 12, Faustau remained optimistic and determined. Her journey serves as an inspiration to many in similar situations and illustrates the importance of seeking innovative treatments and believing in recovery.
