According to the hospital, “the surgery was uneventful” and Faustau must remain under observation to monitor the organ's adaptation and clinical control.
“Patient Fausto Silva was admitted to Hospital Albert Einstein Israelita on February 25 to prepare for a kidney transplant, due to exacerbation of chronic kidney disease, after Einstein was contacted by the São Paulo State Organ Transplantation Center and compatibility was assessed and the organ donation process was performed,” it said. The health unit reported in a memo.
The presenter is currently accompanied by three Albert Einstein specialists: Sergio Ziminis, urologist and member of the kidney transplant team; Fernando Bacal, MD, Cardiologist, and Miguel Sindoroglu Neto, Medical Director of Hospital Services and Medical Practice.
Second transplant in less than a year
This was the second organ transplant Faustau had undergone in less than a year. In August 2023, the broadcaster underwent a heart transplant and was admitted to Albert Einstein Hospital for 15 days.
