According to the IRS reported UOL, Consultation for the first batch of income tax refund 2023 will be available until May 24th. The list of eligible taxpayers will be released one week prior to payments and can be accessed through a specific link.
Refunds will start to be paid from May 31 of this year. Taxpayers who submit their statements by May 10th will have the opportunity to receive them in the first installment, after the payment dates established by law for each payment.
Income tax refunds will be divided into five shares.
The law also sets priority criteria for refunds and includes seniors over 80, people over 60, individuals with physical or mental disabilities or serious illness, as well as taxpayers whose main source of income is teaching. Those who choose a pre-populated statement and/or choose to receive a refund through Pix will also have priority.
One of the novelties in income tax for 2023 is that the refund can be received through Pix, simply informing the key to Pix during the delivery of the declaration. The Pix key consists of a CPF number, providing taxpayers with greater security.
It is important to stress that a refund is the return of the tax that the taxpayer paid in excess of the previous year. Therefore, those who are not entitled to a refund may choose to pay the tax due in up to eight installments, provided that each installment is not less than R$50.
