During the signing of the nail concession contract on Avenida Beira Mar, held on Tuesday (29), the mayor of Fortaleza, José Sarto, promoted the initiative as one of the efforts made by the municipality to stimulate tourism and generate jobs and income in the city. In his speech, the director presented other positive results related to the city’s economy.

“With this concession and with the renovation of Ponte dos Ingleses, the business aligns with what Beira-Mar de Todos already offers all over Brazil, with gastronomy, entertainment, sports and socializing. This definition of concession has been a long project, because it includes calculations of costs and socio-economic gains,” he said. For the city we take into account in all interventions.

According to a survey by Decolar, the capital, Ceará, is among the three most popular destinations for Brazilians in the second half of the year and was also among the most popular destinations for the July holidays, Carnival, New Year’s Eve and Holy Week.

Funded by the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF), Fortaleza has already held 49 city awareness events in Brazil and abroad, with seven more scheduled for this year. The budget of R$12 million aims to promote Fortaleza at exhibitions, seminars, forums, festivals, conferences, conventions and congresses.

In 2022, it will be handed over to the Beira-Mar de Todos project, which includes tents, sports equipment and public toilets. The urban area has reached more than 125 thousand square meters, in addition to 3 kilometers of roads with new paving with interlocking pavers, sidewalks and a sewage system. The interventions included an investment of 120 million Brazilian reals.

Renovation work in Praia de Iracema, which began in April this year, is ongoing and includes urban improvements in the stretch that runs from Avenida Ruy Barbosa to Poco da Draga, including a new boardwalk, small plazas, terraces and a bike path. LED lighting, public restrooms, 50 new parking spaces and landscaping, with 1,566 trees and coconut palms planted along the project.
