247 – The Federal Government announced, through the Federal Official Gazette (DOU), on Tuesday (20), the dismissal of Gabriele Gallipolo from the position of Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Finance. Going forward, Galípolo will leave the second position in the portfolio to take over the management of monetary policy at the Central Bank (BC). He will be replaced in the ministry by Dario Durigan, former director of public policy for WhatsApp in Brazil.
With the nomination, Galípolo must pass Saturday in the Senate Committee on Economic Affairs (CAE). Saturday’s date will be set by CAE Chair, Senator Vanderlan Cardoso (PSD-GO), after the House of Representatives receives the candidates’ curricula and appoints a rapporteur. According to the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, the President of the Central Bank, Roberto Campos Neto, proposed the name Galípolo to incorporate the monetary authority.
according to capital Cities, Dário Durigan, the new Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, is a professional with extensive experience in the legal field and previously worked with Haddad during his tenure as mayor of São Paulo. A lawyer graduate from the University of São Paulo (USP) and a master’s in law and legal research from the University of Brasília (UnB), Dejan has also gained experience in public office, serving in the Public Prosecutor’s Office and Chief of Staff for Legal Affairs.
Prior to his nomination to the second highest position in the volume, he held the position of Head of Public Policy at WhatsApp Brasil since 2020.
