The cute expression of the world’s most cartoonish cat hides his aggressive behavior. The Pallas’ cat is a non-domestic animal and is in danger of extinction, but is known online as “cute”.
He is full of faces and mouths and is very popular on the Internet for his countless fun and even charming expressions. Although it may seem “cute,” scientists warn against avoiding contact.
The name is a tribute to the naturalist Peter Simon Pallas, a German zoologist known in Russia. But unlike its “namesake”, the cat does not like humans and can be very aggressive.
With long and dense fur, the length of which reaches 7 cm, the Pallas’ cat can weigh up to 5 kg, just like domestic cats, but it is the exotic appearance that attracts attention.
Experts attribute the excess fur to low temperatures, as it is easy to find in cold areas.
Hunting of Pallas’ cats for their fur and poisoning has led to a sharp decline in the numbers of this species. This cat is listed as “endangered” by the World Health Organization IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature).
