Rede Globo and Rede Amazônica will broadcast the 57th edition of the Parintins Folklore Festival in Amazonas. This was announced by Governor Wilson Lima on Thursday (2). This edition of the event, which includes the Garantido and Caprichoso bull competition, will be held on the island of Tubinamabarana, on June 28, 29 and 30.
“Doing this broadcast is a challenge, Globo is the second largest radio station on the planet and could have covered any other festival, but they chose to be in Parentins. This is important for the state, for the city, and puts us on another level,” said Governor Wilson Lima. “This shows the importance of the Amazon region.”
The folkloric festival, already traditional in the Amazonian cultural calendar, has gained national prominence with the participation of Cunha-poranga of Boy Garantido, Isabel Nogueira, in Big Brother Brasil 2024.
In the Bumbódromo, a kind of arena, the two groups perform annually on the last weekend of June. The Bomba develop themes and tell indigenous myths in massive allegories. Each show has its own soundtrack, songs that depict the indigenous culture of the Amazon region.
It will be broadcast across all television, radio and internet broadcasting platforms.
The contract authorizing the transfer was signed at the Amazonas government headquarters, in Manaus, on Thursday (2) afternoon. On this occasion, the presidents of the Bomba, Rossi Amoedo, from Caprichoso, and Fred Joyce, from Garantido, were present, as well as the CEO of Grupo Rede Amazônica, Philippe Dao Junior.
“Indeed, all this construction would not have been possible without the approval of Governor Wilson Lima. I would then like to thank the confidence in the work of Rede Amazônica, we are passionate about our region and believe that the broadcast of the festival will strengthen our Amazon region,” explained Philipp Dower Jr.
This year, Boi Caprichoso champions the theme “Culture – Triumph of the People”, while Boi Garantido focuses on “Secrets of the Heart”. To prepare for the big show, the boys do rehearsals on weekends. The events bring together players in both Manaus and Barentines, in a kind of “warm-up” for the long-awaited final chapter.

In February, Rede Amazônica also broadcast Carnaboi. The ceremony serves as a preview of the upcoming edition of the folk festival and opens the “beef” season in the state.
The Parintins Folklore Festival was created in 1965 to raise funds to complete the Cathedral of Nossa Senhora do Carmo, the city's patron saint. Since then, the show has grown and spread throughout the Amazon region and the country, becoming the largest outdoor show.
Thanks to the festival, and through performances produced by the imagination of artists from Parintina, Capricoso and Garantido, the popular festival has earned the title of cultural heritage of Brazil and has expanded Amazonian culture for the world to see. With the success of the concert, the artists were “exported” to carnivals in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, where they took Barentina's art across borders.
In each duel, the club has a minimum performance time of two hours and a maximum performance time of two hours and 30 minutes. During a bull performance, the “audience,” as the fans are called, must remain silent.
