The Best of the Year awards ceremony, which is presented annually, is usually a “show party” intended primarily to celebrate Globo’s own accomplishments. This year was different. The tune of “Domingão do Huck” was a farewell party – from the Bolsonaro government.
With assistance from Paolo Vieira, Fabio Borchat and Tata Wernick, presenter Luciano Hack gives way to a series of jokes with the government that ends. It was Paulo Vieira who got the most out of it: “If I don’t win today I won’t accept defeat.
But the tone of the demonstrations in general was more serious. Osmar Prado, winner in the Supporting Actor category for his role in the telenovela Pantanal, gave a long speech. And he said:
“I want to publish it [o prêmio] With the reaction of people on the streets. Through the series, we have been able to bring a little joy to our people who have been mistreated and disrespected in the past four years. “On January 1st we will be able to rebuild everything,” Osmar said.
The “Best of the Year” award also honored personalities who lead initiatives of a social nature. One of them was Edson Light, creator of Gastronomia Periférica, in São Paulo, who moved the crowd saying, “We came here to celebrate. We came here to say we’re alive, you know, more books, less guns!”
William Bonner, award recipient as a journalist, also celebrated the end of the Bolsonaro government: “Renata (Le Prete), Cesare (Tralee) and I represent a whole class, not just our colleagues at Globo, who in recent years have so much dedicated their efforts to bringing light to people, to bringing information And it’s a joy to be here now, to see, as Lulu Santos said, in partnership with Nelson Mota: everything passes, everything will always pass.”
“I want to dedicate this award to all cultural professionals. I believe that from January we will have an active sector,” said director Andrusha Waddington, director of the award-winning Under Pressure series.
Luciano Hack also dealt with this subject more enthusiastically: “Now that the Ministry of Culture is finally back. The Minister of Culture is back. Look what a great thing. Now the Minister of Culture!” “Viva Margaret Menezes,” added Paulo Vieira.
Huck ended the program on a conciliatory note: “Here you home, Merry Christmas. May it be a year of good health, peace, lots of love. May it be the beginning of a cycle, picking up the pieces of this ‘country we heal open wounds’.” We are one people, united, from one end to the other, we have to wear the same shirt.
