Gloria Groff sings her song “Leilão” at The Town
Partly, a real spectacle on the scene, mesmerizing the eyes and ears of everyone around you. At the same time, there is an atmosphere similar to that of a DJ set in a club, which limits the full listening of songs. This was Gloria Groove’s show at The Town, at The One Theatre, this Sunday (10).
For several moments, it seemed as if the City of Music, the Autodromo Interlagos, had been transformed into a stage. As the protagonist, the singer gives beautiful dramatic performances, which, not surprisingly, impress the audience from beginning to end.
On the other hand, the singer performed so many sets of her songs that the show had a bit of a resemblance to the sound aesthetics of the nightclubs on Rua Augusta, in the capital, São Paulo.
On several tracks, the audience had to make do with the chorus. This was the case with “A Queda”, “Bumbum de Ouro”, “Mil Grau” and “SFM”.
The drag artist split the tracks into various combinations and, in some situations, added samples from artists like Ja Rule and Valesca Popozuda. It was as if the DJ was interrupting the atmosphere of the party goers, preventing them from fully enjoying the songs.
However, the joy of Gloria’s audience was not affected. The energy presented by the singer was extremely high – able to overcome the speed of the verses.
The song’s arrangements become richer with the presence of a gospel choir and orchestral instruments.
Opening the show with her gospel song “Sophie,” the drag queen had already indicated the tone she wanted to bring to the performance: one filled with heavenly references. And see, not necessarily literally.
With her deep voice, she arrived down from the pedestal. Like the singer and the entire troupe, the dancers, including the flag bearer and chamberlain, were dressed in white from head to toe.
Gloria also wore an exuberant rhinestone tiara and flowing headpiece.
At that moment, the singer warmed up the audience with slower songs, such as “A Tua Voz” and “Samba in Paris” by Paco Xo Do Blues.
Then came the turn of pop, electronic and funk rhythms. The highlight, without a doubt, was at the end of the show, when songs like “Bonekinha” and “Vermelho” captivated the audience.
