The 81st Golden Globe Awards took place this Sunday (7), and the person responsible for leading the evening was comedian Joe Koy. Despite his successful career in stand-up comedy, Coy's jokes throughout the awards show were not well received — neither among celebrities nor on the Internet. After the negative reactions, the broadcaster talked about what happened and tried to “explain” some of his more controversial statements.
One of the moments that had the biggest impact was when Taylor Swift became the comedian's “target.” Coy took the opportunity to make a joke about the singer's relationship with American football player Travis Kelce and Swift's constant presence in stadiums since the beginning of their romantic relationship.

The camera also captured other moments from the night, showing negative reactions to the comedian's monologue from Emma Stone, Harrison Ford, Helen Mirren, Selena Gomez, as well as the “Barbie” cast. The latter, in turn, was also the target of a misogynistic joke from Coy, which many considered the worst moment of the night.
“Oppenheimer” is based on a 721-page Pulitzer Prize-winning book about the Manhattan Project, and “Barbie” is based on a plastic doll with large breasts. Barbie's key moment is when she goes from perfect beauty to bad breath, cellulite and flat feet. On social media, fans expressed their anger at the speech. “And that's the reason for the movie [Barbie] to make. There are still men out there to bring women down and focus on their looks rather than their accomplishments.“, noted one netizen. “I've never heard of Jo Koy before, but I find it very interesting that people reduce Barbie to her actual body, when the point of the movie is that she could be anyone, size, color, etc. A doctor, Boss… When we played with her as a baby, it was never about her breasts.” another wrote.

When asked about the bad fallout, the comedian told “Good Morning America” that he had a “bad night” as host of the awards show. “It's a tough job, I'm not going to lie. I wanted to give more of myself and I failed a little bit. That's all.” Coy said. “It's a tough hearing. It's been a tough job, I'm not going to lie… I'd be lying then.” [dissesse] It doesn't hurt. I got to a point where I thought, “Ah.” Presentation is just a difficult task. Yes, I am a comedian, but this hosting position has a different style (…) I feel bad, but I can still say that I loved what I did.she continued.
Regarding the Taylor Swift-inspired speech, Joe Coy explained that the goal was never to mock the singer, but rather the NFL. “I think that [ficou ruim] when [piada sobre] Taylor [Swift] There was no reaction…it was a weird joke, I guess.
