After performing the carnival on the trip to New York, which ended with a positive test for Covid-19, Health Minister Marcelo Quiroga was able to outperform Jair Bolsonaro at the UN General Assembly fair.
Google data shows that the Brazilian health minister had the highest rate of searches on the platform, both in the US and UK, in the 24 hours following the president’s statement.
“Brazilian Minister of Health” was the highest paying term for Brazil in the US, followed by “Brazilian Minister of Health” (+950%) and “Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro” (+850).
In the UK, searches for “Brazilian health minister” jumped 1,200% in the 24 hours after Bolsonaro’s announcement.
During the UN event, Marcelo Quiroga was in a meeting between Bolsonaro and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
The most searched terms for Brazil in the last 24 hours in both the UK and the US were “Brazil time”, followed by “Brazil Covid”.
In Brazil, interest in the minister has also accelerated, spurred by a positive Covid-19 test. Searches for Marcelo Quiroga in the country are up 240% compared to the 24 hours before the UN tour.
