Fail0verflow, a hacker group, claims to have made great strides in cracking PlayStation 5 security.
As reported, they have gained access to PS5 root keys used to decrypt parts of the PS5 firmware, something that will allow them to increase the likelihood of breaking defenses installed by Sony on its latest console.
The group hasn’t shared how they achieved this and it doesn’t look like they will do so publicly, especially since this is a huge problem for Sony who will certainly do everything to ensure that the information is not disclosed more widely.
Fail0verflow is proud to have defeated another security system and claims that PS5 root keys can be obtained through software, making it able to accomplish what it already did on PS3 and PS4: leaving PS5 security on its knees.
Translation: We got all ps5 root keys (symmetric). They can all be obtained from the program – including the root key for each console, if you look hard enough! https://t.co/ulbq4LOWW0
