From November 21-23, the Group on Anthropology in Islamic and Arab Contexts (Gracias) and the Graduate Program in Psychology at the School of Philosophy, Science and Literature Ribeirão Preto (FFCLRP) at the University of the South Pacific promoted the International Symposium “Sixth Cycle” of Debating: Psychological and Cultural Processes On Emerging Topics: An International Symposium on Islamophobia”. To discuss and explain Islamophobia in Brazil and everywhere in the world. The event is being held online, through the YouTube channel Antropologia e Islam – GRACIAS.
The program begins on the 21st, at 7 p.m. Professor Francesrossi Campos Barbosa will present the first report on Islamophobia in Brazil, along with researchers Felipe Freitas de Souza, Isabella Macedo de Lucas, Igor Henrique Bonfim Carlos and Camila Mota Paiva, all members of the Thank You
On the 22nd, at 10 am, she received her PhD from University of London, Vice President of the Center for Social Studies at the University of Coimbra (CES) in Portugal, and co-coordinator of the PhD program on Democracy in the Twenty-first Century. Marta Araujo giving a lecture entitled “Expressions of Institutional Islamophobia in Contemporary Portugal”. Later, at 7 p.m., Sahar Aziz, Professor of Law and Social Justice Adviser at Rutgers Law School in the United States, specializing in legal studies in the Middle East and Director, will deliver a lecture titled “Global Islamophobia and Muslim Discrimination” at 7 p.m. Center for Security, Ethnicity and Rights; and by educator Philip Sousa, Master of Technological Education at the Federal Center for Technological Education of Minas Gerais (Cefet-MG) and Doctoral Candidate in Social Sciences at the Faculty of Sciences and Arts (FCL) of Unesp in Araraquara.
At the conclusion of the event, on the 23rd, at 6 pm, Abdelkarim Wakil, Professor of Portuguese Studies and Contemporary History in the Departments of Languages, Literatures, Cultures and History at King’s College, University of London, UK, will deliver the lecture “Islamophobia: Perception”.
