Rome, London and Tokyo will sign an unprecedented deal in the coming days to build a sixth-generation superjet, British newspapers reported on Wednesday (7).
According to “The Sun” and “Daily Mail” newspapers, “Tempest”, the so-called supersonic fighter, should start flying in 2035 – according to the objectives of the contract – to replace the Eurofighter Typhoon as a result of cooperation. Between Italy, United Kingdom, Germany and Spain.
It is the first time Tokyo has participated in a defense program of this scale with a country other than the United States, and the first post-Brexit deal of this size for London.
Rumors in the British press indicate that defense giant BAE Systems will be involved on the UK side, with Leonardo Spa Italy and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Japan representing Japan.
Talks between Tokyo and London began in 2017. Rome will enter 2019 according to “The Sun” publication. The deal is expected to be signed by the end of the week. 🇧🇷
