Veteran journalist Jose Hamilton Ribeiro, 86, was fired from TV Globo in 2021 and spends most of his time on a farm in Uberaba, Minas Gerais, where he currently resides. It is a farm that produces eucalyptus trees around the perimeter of the property, sugar cane and corn in addition to cows and a small herd of dairy.
The site was featured in a special report presented by Globo Rural this morning. Journalist Nelson Araujo visited a veteran who spent 40 years at the station, passing through “Fantástico” and “Globo Rural”. According to Splash, the tribute was a way Globo found to “soften” the sacking of the experienced journalist.
Jose Hamilton was on vacation on the farm when the epidemic caught him by surprise. Because of his advanced age, he had to isolate himself in the place to avoid contagion of the disease. On the property, the journalist loves to walk, swim, look after the Canary Islands and the fish in a small fishing boat, in addition to being in the company of his granddaughters, daughters and girlfriend.
And the landscape is pleasing to any viewer: in the sheltered part there is a gorge, and the boris are still covered with the frost of last winter and the springs that form the stream that penetrates the property. Inside the house, records of awards he has earned throughout his career and memories of reports made over the decades.
On the property, José Hamilton has ten partners and collaborators, divided between the tasks of managing the farm, looking after chickens, producing corn and other tasks.
