Judo: Olympic champion Sarah Menezes will coach the women’s team

Gold medalist at the London (UK) Games in 2012, Sarah Menezes will coach the women’s judo team during the Olympic Games in Paris (France). The announcement was made by the Brazilian Model Confederation (CBJ) on Monday (13). The show will take place on Tuesday (14), at the opening of the selectivity that will determine the 2022 national team, in Pindamonhangaba (SP).

Sarah retired from Hussr at the end of 2020 after announcing that she was pregnant – her daughter Nina was born in May of this year. The 31-year-old native Biaui (15 of them in the main selection) who also competed in the Beijing (China) Olympics in 2008 and in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 will be technical coordinator Andrea Berti, who was in charge of the junior team. He participated in the Games that were held in Barcelona (Spain) and Atlanta (USA) in 1992 and 1996, respectively.

The men’s team will be coached by Antonio Carlos Pereira, better known as Kiko, who revealed two-time world champion Joao Derli and Olympic medalists Mayra Aguiar (also world duo) and Daniel Kargnen. He replaces Yoko Fujii of Japan, who will become the team’s technical coordinator.

Coaches Luis Shinohara, Mario Tsutsui and Rosiclea Campos leave the selection. The trio led the generation responsible for winning 14 Olympic medals and 48 World Cup finals and will be honored this Tuesday, also at the inaugural selectivity.
