King Charles III celebrates his birthday in London on Saturday (17).
King Charles III will traditionally take part in his first official birthday parade as a sovereign on Saturday morning (17). “Trooping the Color” (or “The King’s Birthday Procession”)London.
Despite the great celebration, King Charles III’s actual birthday is not this Saturday. He was born on November 14, 1948.
The UK monarch left Buckingham Palace on horseback at around 10:30am (6:30am GMT), followed by his son Prince William; and her siblings, Princess Anne and Prince Edward (Watch video above).
Queen Camilla and Princess Catherine followed in a carriage with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
By appearing on horseback, Charles, 74, is reviving a tradition his mother Queen Elizabeth abandoned in 1986 when she was 60, according to Reuters.
Why is there no celebration on the King’s actual birthday?
Because of Britain’s unpredictable weather, the actual birthdays of kings and queens often coincide with winter, rainy or cloudy days.
For this reason, from the reign of Edward VII (1901 – 1910), the “Trooping the Color” took place in May or June when the climate was more stable in the region.
