Pilot highlighted the struggle of the Brazilian player, who was subjected to racism throughout the season in Spain

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton is known for his activity for various reasons, especially racism, about Vinicius Junior, the Brazilian player who has been the focus of a great discussion on this topic throughout the week after he was subjected to offenses of this kind.

In an interview before Monaco, the British driver commented on the issue and praised the Real Madrid player’s attitude.

Hamilton highlighted Vinny’s courage in confronting those who insulted him in a racist way, in addition to the fact that the situation with the player made him remember the moments when he was subjected to the same attacks.

“It really hits me, it really brings up emotions about the things I’ve been through, whether it’s in the UK or when I was racing in Italy or France or Spain. I think it was incredibly brave,” said the Mercedes driver.

“I think it’s amazing what a lot of those experimenting on the field are doing in terms of staying strong, staying strong, staying humble in their approach, not being reactive but being responsible when they step forward because they know there are a lot of young people watching.”

The seven-time Formula 1 champion is the only black driver in the competition. Shortly after the events involving Vinicius, during the match against Valencia last Sunday (21/5), Hamilton used social networks to express himself.

“It is devastating to think that in 2023 we are still seeing and hearing these things,” Hamilton wrote.
