Lineker falls into a "zap groan" during a BBC programme

The “whatsapp gawaning” scam has caught a lot of people and caused embarrassment. This time an important football program on English television had to explain itself.

BBC was embarrassed on Tuesday (17) during the live coverage of the FA Cup match between Wolverhampton and Liverpool. During a pre-match round of analysis and commentary from both sides, BBC commentator Danny Murphy had just given his opinion when embarrassing voices were heard in the background.

The inappropriate noises in the workplace continued for more than 20 seconds as viewers watched as presenter Gary Lineker tried to keep his face straight in the confusion, with the presenter saying “I don’t know who’s making that noise”, before turning to the former Newcastle striker. Alan Shearer, who also laughed.

It was revealed once coverage of the match ended as to what exactly happened. Gary Lineker posted a photo of an old cell phone that was stashed inside a BBC studio with the caption: “Well, we found this affixed to the back of the phone. As far as vandalism goes, it was a lot of fun.”

Lineker later tweeted “nothing to complain about I guess” along with a screenshot of the UK trending list, which was dominated by the BBC One incident. At least Gary took it well.

The traditional English broadcaster apologized for what happened. “We apologize to any viewers who were offended during tonight’s live coverage of football,” the BBC said.

A spokesman said the BBC was investigating the incident.

YouTuber Daniel Jarvis, known as “Jarvo”, claimed he was behind the prank, posting a video to Twitter that appeared to show him at Molineux Stadium.

Jarvis was found guilty in October last year of trespassing on the field at the Oval Stadium in south London and colliding with England cricketer Jonny Bairstow.

He was sentenced to eight weeks’ imprisonment, with a two-year probation – and a two-year ban from any sporting venue in England and Wales. He has also been banned from traveling abroad for 12 months and must complete rehabilitation activity.
