ROME, November 10 (ANSA) – Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai, winner of the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize for her struggle to educate girls, married Tuesday (9) in a small ceremony in Birmingham, central England.

The 24-year-old Pakistani woman posted on her social media some pictures from her wedding to Asir Malik, sports businessman and manager at Pakistan Cricket Board.

“Today is a precious day in my life. Asser and I got married to be life partners. [casamento islâmico] At home in Birmingham with our families. We are excited to walk together on the next journey,” Malala wrote.

When she was 15, Malala was shot in the head by Taliban militants in Pakistan while on a school bus. She recovered after months of treatment at home and abroad before writing her memoir entitled “I am Malala”.

Nobel Peace Prize laureate, sharing the award with activist Kailash Satyarthi, Mala graduated last year from Oxford University in Philosophy, Politics and Economics.
