Chapecó, Campos Novos and Canoinhas are the next cities in the state of Santa Catarina to receive the Embraba caravan next week, from August 23 to 25. Criciúma is one of the cities in the state of Santa Catarina that received the initiative last Friday (12).
The Embraba Caravan has already passed through Mato Grosso do Sul, São Paulo, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul and Minas Gerais and will travel through 48 Brazilian agricultural regions. It aims to discuss alternatives to the crisis of fertilizer scarcity, train participants to develop strategies to rationalize the use of inputs and encourage adoption of good crop management practices. Free registration is open as described below.
MBRAPA researchers and analysts travel through agricultural production centers to bring information and knowledge to technicians, cooperatives, associations, unions, consultants and rural producers on how to promote greater efficiency in the use of fertilizers and inputs, reduce production costs and promote productivity. Adoption of new technologies and good soil, water and vegetation management practices.
In Chappego, the event will take place on the 23rd at the Nobre da Unocapego Auditorium from 8:15 am to 12:30 pm. In Campos Novos, the initiative comes to the UNESCO Auditorium on the 24th. Registration is free and can be done on the event page.
In the municipality of Canoinhas, the event will take place on the 25th during the VII No-Till State Meeting and the 10th annual meeting of the Planorte Água e Solo Program.
Presentations in modules tailored to each production area
Paulo Gelerani, the general coordinator of the nationwide caravan, describes that the lectures of each caravan will be divided into five modules adapted to the different conditions of the Brazilian biomes, which should customize the information for each production area of the country. . Blocks are tools for agricultural planning: where and when to plant? Good practices for efficient use of fertilizers; New Fertilizers and Inputs: New Technologies for Effective Supply of Nutrients to Plants; Digital Solutions: Why and How to Adopt?; and Management Technologies for Agricultural Sustainability: Why Use?
According to Fabiano Daniel de Bona, a researcher from Mbrapa Trigo, regional coordinator of Caravan Mbrapa, the programs in the states of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina covered topics related to regional realities such as cereal crops, rice irrigated land, etc. , family farming properties, tobacco, pastures and fruit trees. In Chapecó, topics focus on family farming, rural properties with pastures, herbs and cereal crops. At Campos Novos, there will be discussions on cereal culture. Another highlight of the program, according to Fabiano, is Epagri’s partnership in technical programming (lectures) in Santa Catarina, and the participation of researchers and extension workers in the event.
The Embraba Caravan addresses practical issues of immediate impact that, if adopted, could promote savings of up to 20% in the use of this type of agricultural input in Brazil, already in the 2022/23 harvest, leading to savings up to now. A billion dollars for a Brazilian rural producer.
Brazil currently consumes 8.5% of the world’s fertilizers, ranking fourth. China, India and the US top the consumption list. With the exception of Brazil, which imported 89% of the 43 million tonnes consumed in agricultural production in 2021, these countries are still the world’s main fertilizer producers. In the country, soy, corn and sugarcane crops account for more than 73% of fertilizer consumption. Russia is responsible for supplying 25% of Brazil’s fertilizers. Together with Belarus, it supplies more than 50% of the potash consumed annually by Brazilian farmers.
alignment and discussion
At the end of Caravan’s presentation at each production center, an alignment of technical know-how needs will be carried out, followed by a detailed discussion of key issues faced in each region.
These face-to-face activities aimed at rural extension technicians, technicians from cooperatives, unions and rural associations and leading producers, aim to reach around 10 thousand professionals. Researchers and explorers from Embraba and fellows coordinating each caravan.
Embrapa wants to digitize formalized knowledge to feed a hotspot and create a vast digital base of knowledge on the subject, which can provide reference to multipliers such as CNA, Sennar, Emators and agro-industrial cooperatives.
Mbraba Caravan is an initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, Mbraba and Fertbrussel Network. It has the sponsorship of ILPF Network, Bayer Climate Field View, Bioma, Fertisystem, Argo, Poly Fertilizers and the support of Banco do Brasil, Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock (CNA), National Rural Learning Service (SENAR), OCB Organization. and Sinprifert, in addition to regional coordinators Crea/SC; UNOSC; Ebakry; Unocabeco; Makaranda Technology Park; Agroquim; compost; Leaf Biotechnology; TerraPlant Fertilizers; Googham; and Faesc/Senar.
