October 15 is the time to honor the teachers who are primarily responsible for the education of children and youth.
In the middle of the morning, I fill my lungs with air and smell books, while listening to my favorite voice in the world: the students share with me their doubts, their longing, their curiosity to discover the world. I am a very proud teacher! Nothing makes me happier than being in class, exchanging ideas, and playing with my students. Everything there inspires me. Everything there is life!
In school we anticipate our dreams, we work with uncertainty, we move in anguish and we celebrate achievements. We travel through history, learning about the planet, societies, numbers and letters.
As we study the world, we also learn a lot about ourselves. We improve our communication, become better able to connect with others and better understand every part of the world that makes them who they are.
In this environment, time and space merge into individual and collective discoveries. It is wonderful to observe the magical world of this living being, and to be a part of it is not for everyone. So professors are respected beings, the architects of this chemistry that occurs through the look, through writing, through the senses, through materials and through reception.
With their most amazing social skills, these professionals go above and beyond content transmission. We are, in and out of the classroom, mentors, mediators, advisors, listeners, teachers and much more.
The English professor is a teacher. However, unlike what happens in Brazil, this word is not a title, but just the name of a profession. Teacher Anna, for example, is not called teacher Anna, in English, but ms. , followed by her title.
The same goes for the teacher: Mr. + nickname. It is the culture of the individual himself and not his title as we do here.
Here, in Brazilian classrooms, all students refer to her by their name: TEACHER, first and foremost. teacher first. When students see us in a public place, they immediately comment:
“Look at my teacher!” Then they greet us: “Hello, teacher!” Because of this closeness, we are little by little becoming part of the family, belonging to the student’s history and we will have a guaranteed place there forever.
In the same way, we carry with us, in our minds and hearts, the memories of teachers who left their mark on the course of our school.
The one who was the first to guide us on the path of writing and reading, or the one who inspired us to choose the profession to follow, or the one who, through his teaching methods, was able to help us overcome content that seemed complicated to us, or also, the one who welcomed us into A moment of suffering for reasons beyond the walls of the school.
October 15 is the time to honor the teachers who are primarily responsible for the education of children and youth.
The origin of the history goes back to 1947, when teacher Salomao Becker suggested a private meeting between the team at the school where he taught to reflect on the problems of the profession and discuss better working conditions. Over time, this idea has grown among schools. So, in 1963, a decree was issued that established the date as a school holiday, Teacher’s Day, which is celebrated every year.
This day symbolizes the entire school year in the image of the teacher, the hero in the mediation between knowledge and students, directing the way, helping to build knowledge and skills essential for professional and personal life.
Every contribution a teacher makes to society and students on that day is recognized. Let us always remember the importance of appreciating it with respect, gratitude and admiration, and awakening the student to the adventure of life. Congratulations on your day, teacher! Happy teachers day!
