The signing was part of the REM MT monitoring mission, which was carried out by representatives of Germany and the United Kingdom, the project's international funders, who are part of SEMA's International Programs and Projects Division.
Ottaviano Pivetta reinforced the State's commitment to continuous action in support of environmental protection and congratulated the work carried out by the REM MT project.
“This year we have achieved the biggest reduction in illegal deforestation in the history of the state and we will continue with the same energy. KfW's portfolio manager for Latin America and the Caribbean, Klaus Konlein, representing the German government, guaranteed the transfer of resources to continue the REM program for the next five years.

The event started with a meeting where SEMA presented what the government has done to combat illegal deforestation and forest fires. The State Secretariat for Social Assistance and Citizenship (SETASC) released the results of the SER Tribal Family Scheme. Sustainable development projects in the state were provided by the State Secretariat for Family Agriculture (SEAF) and the Mato Grosso Agency for Research, Assistance and Rural Extension (EMBARE).
Acting Environment Secretary Alex Marega highlighted that the monitoring work of the REM MT project with the participation of kfW in collaboration with the United Kingdom provides an overview of everything that has happened in recent years since the completion of the first phase of REM. project.

The REM program
The REM MT program has already served 144 social enterprises, including 114 associations or cooperatives. Among the beneficiaries are 603 villages where 40 tribal people live. In total, 107 municipalities in Mato Grosso and more than 30 thousand people were served.
