The 4-star US admiral, a former NATO commander, cited worrying statements from presidents and prime ministers of First World countries such as the UK and France, showing that foreign officials are trying to decide on Brazil's future. Robinson Farinasso, a reserve officer in the Brazilian Navy, told a hearing at the Commission on Foreign Relations and National Security that in the 21st century debate on national sovereignty, Brazil must prepare because something more serious could be coming.
The expert told an empty auditorium that reflected parliament's lack of interest in national security issues that the UN had almost approved a resolution that could put Brazil in grave danger and open up international intervention. Iraq and one of the countries that prevented it from continuing was Russia.
