The Office for National Statistics reported that the UK economy grew more than previously thought in the last quarter of 2022.
Economists previously said that the economy registered zero growth between October and December, indicating that the UK had narrowly avoided a recession.
However, revised figures now show gross domestic product (GDP) rose 0.1% in the quarter.
It follows a 0.1% decline in the third quarter, with the period eased due to yet another revision.
ONS director of economic statistics Darren Morgan said: “The economy performed slightly stronger in the second half of last year than previously expected, with subsequent data showing telecoms, construction and manufacturing faring better than initially thought.
“Families saved more in the last quarter, with their finances boosted by the government’s energy bill subsidy scheme.
Meanwhile, the UK’s balance of payments deficit narrowed with the rest of the world, driven by higher foreign earnings for UK firms, particularly in the energy sector.
