Meta, the company responsible for Facebook and Instagram, has decided to update its privacy policies. The new instructions also include Messenger’s built-in dialer. With this, users of the platforms have already begun to be notified. The good news is that the instructions surrounding the topic are becoming simpler for users to understand.

What changes with the new privacy policies?

According to the company, the new privacy policies are just a new, more accessible simplified version of the old. Now, users have more examples, which makes understanding easier and more intuitive for those who are registered and using networks.

In practice, there is no change in the rules that define the use of every platform managed by Meta. “Although the wording differs in some parts, Meta does not collect, use and share your data in new ways based on this policy update and does not sell your information,” said Michael Prouty, Meta’s Director of Privacy.

The terms of use of the service will also change

Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger won’t be able to collect data from users or treat it differently than what actually happens. So, rest assured with the new privacy policies. The company also stated that the terms of service will be updated. Thus, the language will follow the new model adopted by the technology company.

“The updates we are announcing today are inspired by feedback from privacy experts, policy makers, and users of our services. Our goal is to update our privacy policy frequently while we continue to learn where we can improve.”

It is worth noting that the position taken regarding privacy policies shows a trend and follows global standards. In Brazil, the General Data Protection Regulation (LGPD) takes into account any changes that may put users’ privacy at risk.
