British Prime Minister, Boris JohnsonHe married this Saturday (29) with his fiancée Carrie Symonds, in a “secret ceremony”, according to British media.
Mail on Sunday and The Sun have reported that Boris Johnson, 56, known for his tumultuous love life, married Carrie Symonds, 33, at Westminster Catholic Cathedral, in the presence of close friends and family.
Johnson thus became the second British Prime Minister to marry during his tenure, after Robert Jenkinson in 1822.
The couple had been waiting for months to get married, after they had to postpone the ceremony scheduled for last year, due to the outbreak of the epidemic. They became engaged in December 2019 and have a one-year-old son, Wilfred.
About thirty people attended the party – the maximum currently allowed – after being invited at the last minute, according to the Mail on Sunday.
The Sun added that the same priest who baptized the couple’s son – who was also present at the ceremony – celebrated the wedding.
Boris has already been married twice. He has four children from his ex-wife, attorney Marina Wheeler, with whom he separated in 2018. He will also have a daughter, born in an affair.
When elected in 2019, Johnson became the first prime minister to reside on Downing Street with his unmarried partner.
Carrie Symonds, a former Conservative communications official, gave birth to her son weeks after Johnson left the intensive care unit, where he entered after contracting the Coronavirus.
