Pacaembu and CBAt sign a partnership to use the complex

The traditional football stadium in Sao Paulo, Pacaembu will once again host athletics activities starting next year. The director of the stadium and the Brazilian Athletics Federation (CBAt) signed a clause of intent stating that the athletics track, which will be installed again in the complex, will be used by athletes from the student level, passing through the basic categories, professional.

In addition, there are prospects for a partnership for the athletes’ recovery at the Albert Einstein Hospital’s Sports Medicine Center, which will be located within the complex. After renovation, modernization and restoration works, Pacaembu will have an athletics track around the football field. The goal is to host track competitions, such as half-distance and long-distance events, sprint challenges, among other activities.

“Pacaembu’s identity is strongly football, but the complex will also be ready to host trainings of other sports. We want Pacaembu to be the plural and to be the home of different sports. The partnership with CBAt, the governing body for athletics, confirms our desire to offer athletes more options to practice sports ”, explains Eduardo Parrilla, CEO of Concessionária Allegra Pacaembu.

“Pacaembu has the ability to receive and encourage the practice of different sports. We have an Olympic-size swimming pool, two tennis courts and a multi-sport gym available to sports organizations and the general population. We are talking with other confederations so that new agreements can be signed,” says Bruno Souza, director of the franchise.

The renovation, restoration and modernization work of the Pacaembu complex began on June 29, 2021, following the project approved by the state and municipal councils to preserve the historical heritage and by the relevant municipal secretariats. The complex will be completely renovated, respecting and renovating the original architectural complex from the 1940’s.

A nine-storey multi-purpose building, four of which are underground, is under construction. The hotel will operate over three floors, in partnership with UMusic Hotels, a joint venture between Universal Music Group, the world leader in music-based entertainment, and Dakia U-Ventures, an international investment group. The Albert Einstein Hospital will also occupy the space with a sports medicine center.

The building will also contain an events and conference center that can accommodate up to eight thousand five hundred people; In addition to ample underground parking. The new building will also house a sports medicine center, a center for entrepreneurship and innovation, and a unit of Galleria Continua, one of the world’s premier contemporary art galleries. The complex will also include restaurants, cafes, bars, shops and offices. and an elevated public walkway connecting Rua Etapolis and Rua Desembargador Paulo Passalacqua.

Also, the eastern and western stands have been under construction since last year, and after the renovation, these structures will provide more comfort, safety and ease of access for visitors. In addition to residential cabins, an e-sports arena, event and hospitality spaces, new toilets and dining areas.
