PIS / Pasep allowance starts in January with double payment

Paycheck PIS/Pasep is one of the benefits workers have been waiting for so much, after all, due to the Emergency Employment and Income Maintenance (BEm) program, the benefit payment expected to be paid this year has been deferred to 2022.

January salary bonus

In accordance with Resolution 896 of the Codefat Advisory Board responsible for managing PIS/Pasep, bonus payments will begin in January 2022.

The payment schedule will also be released by Codefat in January, once the board reviews the information from the RAIS (Annual Social Information Report) companies send to the government with all workers’ data.

A RAIS analysis is mandatory to determine the salary bonus recipients, considering that PIS/Pasep is exclusively for workers with monthly income up to a minimum wage per month in the base year.

Additionally, from next year onwards, the accrual will always be paid between January and December and will no longer begin in July of one year and end in June of the following year.

This decision aims to ensure that all workers receive the benefit in the year in question, without paying the subsidy that has a weight in the budget for the following year.

Thus, the expectation is that payment will be made to the workers according to the month of birth, i.e., he who has a birthday in January should have it in January, birthdays in February, receive it in February and so on.

The salary bonus is usually paid in the year following the year in which the workers performed a paid activity. That is, workers who worked in 2021 should receive in 2022.

However, since the base year 2020 benefit, which was supposed to be paid this year, has been deferred to 2022, we will then have the salary bonus payment for base year 2020 and base year 2021.

Thus, those who worked all year in 2020 and throughout 2021 and who comply with the PIS / Pasep rules will be able to get a minimum wage, i.e. double the payout.

It should be noted that the normal value of the benefit is proportional to the number of months worked throughout the year, i.e., those who worked throughout the year will receive a salary, while those who have worked less time will be paid in proportion to their number. I worked months.
