PJ has no space to store João Rendeiro’s art collection

The takeover of the João Rendeiro art collection is facing a series of storage difficulties due to the lack of space in the premises of the Judicial Police. PJ has requested court support given the volume of pieces collected since last week.

The first phase of the arrest, directed at the works stored inside the home of Joao Rendero, was completed last week.

The judicial police are now preparing to collect the pieces displayed in the park, but they no longer have a place to store them. In a document accessed by SIC, PJ’s National Anti-Corruption Unit warned the judge that the collection had been seized, but that a second phase of removal of the pieces had not been scheduled because no solution had been found for the storage business.

The court also demands indications of the destination to be given to the works of art, whose properties do not allow it to be stored in the security of the judicial police.

The court suggests a solution. He says that, since it is at PJ headquarters, there are no conditions for storing the exhibited collection outside the home, A must have property management office for parts storage and preservation.

The judge’s order has already been sent to the Lisbon County Presiding Judge, along with a list and photos of all the works seized a decade ago. The information followed is on CD and not in physical form, Because the court lacks a color printer.

The 124 artworks were seized in 2010, transferred from the hands of João Rendero to the state in order to ensure compensation for Banco Privado Português victims.
