White maintains its prominence among car owners in Brazil, according to BASF's 2023 Color Report. Despite this, the traditional color palette of cars is undergoing major transformations across the country.
According to the study, which analyzed global and regional trends, white is still the preferred color among light vehicles, but its dominance has declined due to the increased popularity of black in the past year.
South America, known for its conservative preference for color, reflects this with 86% of new vehicles being white, black, silver or grey. Gray stands out as the most chosen shade in the region.
In Europe, the trend is similar, with a move from light colors, such as white and silver, to dark colors, such as black and grey. Each country has its own characteristics: in Germany, blue is preferred; In France, the color green is prominent; In Italy, the diversity of chromatic colors is striking, with great participation.
In North America, the preference for dark achromatic colors has also increased, with blue becoming the leader among achromatic colors. In the Asia-Pacific region, natural colors are on the rise, with green gaining popularity.
The BASF report highlights not only changing color preferences, but also the growing influence of different types of vehicles, such as electric cars, which are driving the adoption of more vibrant colors such as green and purple.
