Protests by rural producers continue and intensify across Europe at this time. With the movement that began in 2024 in Berlin, Germany, and spread throughout the country, it has now reached the continent, and the most intense movements are now being recorded in France. Local press reports indicate that the capital, Paris, only had food stocks for three days, as the entire city was besieged by farmers demanding more attention from governments to the sector's long-term demands. At the heart of the agenda are the European Union's environmental policies and cheap food imports – such as Brazilian products, for example – as well as subsidies for this activity, which have been under discussion, at least in part, for abolition by some governments.
Throughout France, it is possible to see protest sites bearing the phrase “Macron responded to us!”, as shown in the image below:
In addition to France and Germany, Italy, Spain, Poland and Belgium joined the demonstrations.
