After his success on the football fields of the UK, actor Ryan Reynolds invests in the tracks of Formula 1. The translator of the hero Deadpool and his partner and fellow professional Rob McElhinney paid 171 million pounds sterling and 1 billion dollars to buy 24% of the shares of Alpine, one of the Formula 1 teams.
A 24% stake in Alpine was acquired through Maximum Effort Investments, an investment group that includes Reynolds and McElhinney as majority partners. Actor Michael B. Jordan is part of the group. The deal involving the Formula 1 team and Hollywood artists has been reported by the Daily Mail.
Alpine appeared in 1981 as Toleman. Then it became Benetton, Renault and Lotus. Its current pilots are Frenchmen Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon.
Reynolds and McElhinney lived a modern fairy tale with Wrexham, one of the most traditional football teams in Wales. The two bought the team in November 2020. In the just-ended British football season, the men’s team managed to reach the fourth division for 2023/2024.
Wrexham’s women’s team has risen to the top of the Welsh Football League.
Presently, Reynolds is also working on the production of ‘Deadpool 3’. Directed by director Shawn Levy, the feature will mark actor Hugh Jackman’s return to the role of Canadian mutant Wolverine. The movie is scheduled to be released in May 2024.
