Actor Ryan Reynolds rode the bus that rode the Wrexham AFC men’s and women’s teams during the club’s celebrations of the club’s epic 2023 season. Owned by Reynolds and fellow actor Rob McElhenney since 2020, Wrexham was founded in 1864, with the oldest football team in Wales.
In 2023, the Wrexham men’s team are promoted to the fourth tier of English football – teams from Wales compete in the same domestic leagues as English teams. On the other hand, the women’s national team has risen to the top of the Welsh Football League.
The translator of the hero Deadpool shared on Instagram an album with photos of the celebration on the streets of Wrexham. It appears on top of one of the buses that transported the two teams from their club.
Reynolds appears smiling in the photos, hugging his players and also Rob McElhinney. Wrexham fans surround the teams’ buses with smoke and white and red flags. The album also contains videos of fans crying as buses pass by.
“An unforgettable era at Wrexham,” Reynolds wrote in the album’s caption along with the photos. He added: “Celebrating both Wrexham and Wrexham women, getting up and winning their league. Crazy.”
“So proud to call him friend — and foe,” actor Hugh Jackman joked in the comments section of Reynolds’ post. “There is no such thing as a Wrexham fan,” another person wrote. “Thank you Ryan for all you’ve done for our city and our team,” said a Wrexham resident.
