Four field hospitals of the National Force Unified Health System (SUS) are strengthening public health structures in Rio Grande do Sul in areas most affected by the floods. The total work of the National Force is more than 8,500 services, according to the balance issued by the Ministry of Health on Friday (31/05).
“We are supporting the network and in doing so we are reducing the excess burden on the public health system affected by the situation in Rio Grande do Sul, including closed health units,” explains nurse Adriano de Araujo da Silva, who works at the hospital campaign center in Novo Hamburgo, next to the health center. Emergency Care Unit (UPA). The Novo Hamburgo Field Hospital includes six doctors, four nurses and eight nursing technicians from different Brazilian states and was inaugurated last Saturday (05/25).
“The sum of the efforts makes it possible to alleviate the suffering of our population, who needs qualified care,” explained Secretary Arita Bergmann, during her visit to the field hospital in Novo Hamburg last Monday (27/05).
In addition to providing care in field hospitals, the SUS also provided health care to indigenous people, airborne patient removal, and care by mobile teams. In addition to the National Socialist Forces field hospitals, the Ministry of Defense maintains eight other field hospitals linked to the armed forces in Rio Grande do Sul, totaling 12 field hospitals in the state.
