The mother of a bride in the American state of Louisiana sparked widespread controversy on social media because of the dress she chose for her daughter's party.
Although many may think it is a white dress (a common mistake at weddings), Lori DeWitt was surprised when she appeared wearing a dress decorated with green flowers from the brand Audrey + Brooks. The dress features a plunging neckline, detachable bow and train.
Chloe LeBlanc, an influencer who specializes in weddings, deemed the piece “amazing” after posting photos of the ceremony on Instagram, according to a New York Post report. However, many social media users disagreed with this, and described the dress as “inappropriate.” The bride, Amanda DeWitt LeBlanc, chose an off-the-shoulder dress by Romona Keveza for her walk down the aisle.

Watch some of the negative comments about Lori's choice of clothing as she was accused of “trying to outshine her daughter”:
- “Great! Can’t she let her daughter be the biggest attraction that day?! If my mother does that, I’ll take her back to change her clothes.”
- “Beautiful dress. Beautiful woman wearing this. Wrong occasion.”
- “Ridiculously low cut. Beautiful fabric, but the cut is inappropriate for a wedding. Period.”
- “Pretty, but a little overdone considering her daughter's dress!”
- “Why are you so high on your daughter? Horrible.”
As someone jokingly pointed out: “It's not Mother's Day!”
