The final day of The Town includes a rerun of Bruno Mars and good performances by Gao, Pablo Vittar and Eiza City 2023

The farewell to the first edition of The Town was replayed by Bruno Mars, this time with Xororó and his family boosted in the audience, when the keyboardist from the American singer’s band played the classic country song “Evidências”.

The second Mars show at the festival was, of course, the highlight of the final day of the São Paulo event. But the line-up had other highlights, with the Brazilians showing greater international appeal.

Jão, Iza and Pabllo Vittar gave well-attended performances with a more popular repertoire than that sung by HER and Kim Petras. Gloria Groff and Marina Sena singing Gal Costa completed the main stage program.

The first edition of The Town brought 100,000 people a day to the Autódromo de Interlagos. Maroon 5, Post Malone and Foo Fighters were other main attractions at the event.

Bruno Mars’ show had the same unbeatable setlist as his first performance last week at the festival, including “Evidências,” a country classic in an instrumental version. The song was played by keyboardist John Fawcett, this time with Xororó and his family in the audience. When he appeared on screen, fans cheered. Gao finished the program on The One stage, and the singer understood the responsibility. Anyone approaching the stage will encounter a large dragon with open wings dominating the stage. There are now ultra-precise shows, almost always sold out, with scenography, theatrics and stage presence. The set was a great mix between the recently released album “Super” and older albums. Known for fusing suffering with pop music with hints of self-deprecation, the artist is taking another path, which is to live his emotions and the good things they can bring. After playing one of the best performances at Rock in Rio 2019, he showed that he is still in good shape. Only a few of them showed signs of familiarity with the California singer’s repertoire, but they still swayed to the melodies and rhythms of Gabrielle Wilson, winner of an Oscar and five-time Grammy. In addition to singing, she alternates between piano, guitar, guitar, and drums. “The Best Part” (recorded with Canadian Daniel Caesar) was the most sung-to song of the night. At many moments, it seemed as if Music City had turned into a stage. As the protagonist, the singer gave beautiful dramatic performances that impressed the audience, not surprisingly. On the other hand, the singer performed so many sets of her songs that the show had a bit of a resemblance to the sound aesthetics of the nightclubs on Rua Augusta, in the capital, São Paulo. Kim Petras just wants to dance and make others dance. The first trans singer to reach the top of the charts debuted in Brazil. The German pop star is 31 years old, 17 of which he has devoted to dance-pop music. Try turning the race track into a dance floor. But he couldn’t. She has gathered an audience of a few die-hard fans and many bored Bruno Mars fans. The show didn’t help: she still needs more maturity and the same care she gives to her songs. Many people did not understand it, but even before Pablo Vittar entered the stage, some of his fans celebrated in the choir by assembling the musical instruments of the band that accompanied the singer. The absence of backing musicians at Pablo’s shows has become an Internet joke. She gave her response to the critics in a good show – her first time with a band. “It’s a pleasure to be here today with my band,” confirmed the singer, who received screams from those who understood the irony. “Smash everything, my band,” he joked, before “Cadeado,” a song from the festive album “Noitada” released this year. The players made a difference: they gave strength and substance to the arrangements. She became more comfortable singing and dancing, without having to disrupt the audience with her singing. Iza is interested in showing off the new Iza. Both in terms of performance and setlist. This is what I hinted at on the Skylin stage. With a new album (“Afrodhit”) in hand, it was already expected that the singer would diversify her repertoire even more, leaving the same situation in which she found herself for years. But, contrary to what you might think, the selection of songs for the show was diversified mainly through hit songs belonging to other artists. Marina Sena moved and brought the audience to tears when she sang “Nada Mais”, “Dê um Rolê”, “Baby” and other songs by Gal Costa (1945-2022). The singer from Minas Gerais has placed her musical identity in Jal’s repertoire. You wouldn’t expect her to have the vocal range of the honoree, but it was clear that Marina took on the responsibility of putting on a show dedicated to one of the biggest names in world music.
