The federal government and the ANP, the national agency for petroleum, natural gas and biofuels, estimate that the first permanent bid auction for the pre-salt polygon’s oil and natural gas exploration will take place at the end of this year. There will be 11 exploration and production areas.
Since the end of last year, a decision by the National Energy Policy Council allows the inclusion of pre-salt blocks and strategic areas on permanent display, under the participation system.
The director general of the regulatory agency, Rodolfo Saboya, said the ANP is working “hard” for the auction to be held in 2022.
The Minister of Mines and Energy, Pinto Albuquerque, also stated that holding the auction this year is the expectations of the National Council on Energy Policy and Government.

59 exploration blocks were acquired in six basins, which generated more than R$ 422 million in signing bonuses and investments of over R$ 406 million in the coming years.
