To provide more security and convenience for tourists who will contemplate the natural beauty of the Serra do Defezor National Park, in the westernmost part of Acre, as well as to contribute to the improvement of the structure of the local community inn, the state government delivered several equipment on Monday, 30th, in Mancio Lima.
The boatmen carrying passengers on the Japiim and Moa rivers received 200 new life jackets, a mandatory item during the entire journey between Mâncio Lima and the community of Pé da Serra, where the three lodges are located in the area.
The lodge owners were provided with 36 leggings (equipment used in trails in the woods to avoid snakebites), 26 mattresses, 7 bunk beds and copies of the SDP.
“With this feature, we will not withdraw money from the cashier at the hotel and this helps us a lot”argued Robéria Lima, owner of Pousada Canindé.

This measure is an initiative of the Minister of Entrepreneurship and Tourism (CET). In total, the total investment is 30 thousand Brazilian riyals. The money comes from the second phase of the REM Acre programme, a partnership between the state, German and UK governments in an initiative aimed at projects to protect and conserve forests. The acronym REM stands for REDD Early Movers, in Portuguese REDD+ for pioneers.

With reduced cases of covid-19 and flexibility in park access rules, Serra do Divisor has attracted visitors from Brazil and beyond. In addition to having one of the greatest biodiversity on the planet, the place is enchanting for its waterfalls. By supporting the community, the government shows a commitment to promoting sustainable ecotourism.
