The judge decides to drop the charges against Trump

On Wednesday, the 13th of this month, a decision was revealed in which a judge in Fulton County, located in the state of Georgia in the United States, dropped six charges in the election interference case involving former President Donald Trump and eighteen other defendants.

Judge Scott McAfee, who is in charge of the case, said the state did not provide enough details to support the charges “Requesting a violation of the oath from a public employee.”

On the judicial level, McAfee expressed concern about the inaccuracy of the accusations, noting that although the defendants' behavior has been widely publicized, the absence of details about exactly how the crimes were committed makes it impossible for the defendants to adequately prepare. Their defenses.

The judge stressed that without proper identification of wrongful acts, the charges do not meet the legal requirements. These six accusations are part of a broader case accusing Trump and his allies of trying to interfere in the results of the 2020 presidential elections in Georgia, seeking to overturn the former president’s electoral defeat.

The dismissed charges relate to alleged attempts to convince state officials to breach their duties, including efforts to persuade Georgia lawmakers to appoint alternate delegates and requests by Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to overturn the election results.

Meanwhile, McAfee is investigating allegations against Fulton District Attorney Fanny Willis, who is accused of hiring consultant Nathan Wade while they were in an undisclosed romantic relationship and benefiting financially from that appointment.

They both denied the allegations at the latest hearing, and a decision on whether Willis and his team could be removed from the case is expected in the coming weeks.
