The Money Game: Learn the stories of former athletes who tried to manage their fortunes
Starting Thursday (12), Hora 1 presents “Jogo do Dinheiro”, a special series in three episodes: we will see the athletes who won a lot of money while they were professional in their sports, and we will find out how they managed it afterwards – there were people who multiplied Others have lost everything.
The first example is from an ex-football player, ex-lineback Jura. After a stint at São Paulo in the early 1990s, he made a lot of money in his early years in football, but got into a spiral of more spending than earning. And after he finished his career, he ended up running into difficulties. Now, he is trying to pursue his coaching career.
“I managed to buy my little things. I had a house, I had an apartment, I had a farm, I had the car of the year,” says Jura, who analyzes how he lost all the money.
“At night, women, and also bad investments, and excitement about certain things. Then there came a time when I had nowhere else to take a sale, ”the former athlete reports.
Natalia Arcuri, who specializes in financial management, teaches how to control accounts. For her, the tendency to lack financial control does not begin at the time of spending itself, but in the behavior and thoughts a person has in relation to money.
“We humans have a very strong sense of community, which is herd behaviour. Damn, if I’m in a group, inside an ecosystem where I know a lot of money is being spent – if you live well, eat well, dress well – and how am I a part of that?” I’m going to feel like they’re in my group, or like them? How am I going to do this? I’m going to use my money, and not knowing what the consequences of that will be – because, after all, we’re thinking about the future,” he explains.
