The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom has stated that it is clear he will run in the next election

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Wednesday that he would run in the next election and could not think of any circumstances under which he could step down.

Opposition groups called for the beleagured PM to resign.

On Tuesday, Johnson apologized in Parliament, saying he was unaware that a meeting at his Downing Street office to celebrate his birthday was illegal.

Opposition parties have stated they will not run in the by-elections.

When asked by reporters on a flight to India if he would run in the next election, Johnson replied, “Of course.”

Asked if he saw any circumstances in which he might resign, he replied, “I do not remember much at this time.”

Johnson said it was time to focus on other pressing international and domestic issues.

“The best thing we can do is to focus on things that can really change and improve the lives of voters and stop talking about politicians,” he told reporters.

Legislators will vote Thursday on a motion filed by the opposition Labor Party, which, if passed, will send it to a House of Commons special committee to consider whether Johnson’s conduct is disrespectful to the House of Commons.

But the government is trying to delay the decision until a police investigation into Lockdown violations is completed, and a long-awaited report from a senior public official will be released.
