Taiwanese YouTuber Cheng Ning-chuan has been arrested and sentenced to two years in prison for posting a video containing photos of himself and his friend Lu Tzu-hsien during their apparent kidnapping.

The two young men were traveling through Cambodia and were arrested and sentenced in the country. The video included pictures of them being arrested in the city of Sihanoukville, an area known for gangs that kidnap people.

However, the photos were fake and the duo were outed by other influencers.

Shortly thereafter, the friends were detained in the hotel room, where several of the tools used in the video were also found.

Now, a Cambodian court said on Friday, the 16th of this month, that the duo was convicted of “inciting chaos in social security.” The government claimed that the two men produced videos with “false content that harms the honor of the regime and security” in the country, and they were sentenced to two years in prison and ordered to pay a combined fine of about 1,800 euros.
