Globo TV reporter Victoria Henrique used her social media to express her anger about religious intolerance. The journalist was the target of attacks and lost followers after publicly declaring her devotion to the Umbanda religion, which she practices.
In a recent Instagram post, Victoria revealed that her spiritual choice has generated a wave of criticism and unfollows. “I’m losing followers because I posted a video on Umbanda. What’s important to me will be here on this network. I’m not willing to get sick of pretending to be someone I’m not. My freedom in all aspects is non-negotiable. If you like it, great, if not, do as I do: work through your issues in therapy.”
The committed anti-racism reporter revealed that she faced academic and professional challenges. “I did TCC [Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso] My counselor said I would be at risk because it was something completely new and I ended up taking it. [nota] 10,” he said.
Despite the criticism and loss of followers, Victoria Henrique remains steadfast in her convictions and reaffirms her commitment to religious freedom and the fight against intolerance. “So guys. The day my number of followers becomes more important and I am afraid to post about my spirituality here, I can change my name. We continue to resist. Always,” he concluded.
